You don’t need any complicated tools to put the Woodmizer LT 10 portable sawmill together however you will need to at least one extra set of hands and some materials from your local lumber yard or hardware store.

Tools you need to have on hand:

  • Rubber Mallet
  • Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • Large Square (rigid and 20″ minimum)
  • Two each wrenches (7/16″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 9/16″ & 3/4″)
  • 3/16″ Hex Wrench

In regards to the wrenches, it will speed up assembly time if you have a set of ratchet wrenches.  The 1/2″ and 9/16″ ratchet wrenches will get the most use for the initial assembly as well as recurring breakdown and rebuild of the bed frame and the periodic tightening of the feed cables.  Ratchet wrenches will speed up the process and leave more time for cutting.

Materials you need to provide:

  • Two (2) 14′ Beams (4″x6″)
  • Minimum of eight (8) 5/16″ x 1 3/4″ Lag Bolts and washers ( Minimum of four per bed section)
  • Kite String
  • Bundle of Door Shims

In order to support the bed frame appropriately, you will need to purchase two (2)  14′ beams.
The beams need to be 4″ x 6″ in order to elevate the bed frame and  provide adequate clearance for the log clamp that is used to secure the timber for processing.  I had four (4) 4″ x 6″ x 8 treated beams on hand that worked fine and saved me from purchasing two 14′ contiguous beams.  This format required some additional shimming to achieve a level surface but it was cheaper and more convenient than visiting the lumber yard.

My next post post will go into assembling the bed frame.

I cut the shrinkwrap off the pallet and removed the banding securing the equipment to the pallet. Aside from the sawmill assembly, the pallet included accessories and ahardware items packaged in separate shipping containers.

  • A Large Bag of Bolts and Nuts and other misc. hardware
  • Briggs and Stratton 1450 Motor ( I upgraded to the larger motor option)
  • 1 Band Saw Blade
  • 1 Log Clamp
  • 1 box of cables
  • Instruction booklet with a DVD and a new WoodMizer Hat

In addition to upgrading the motor of my new portable sawmill, I also ordered one bed extension for those longer cuts.  The additional bed extension was separately packaged and secured onto the pallet.  I also received another box of cables that are longer to support the added length of the bed extension.

I am happy to say my Woodmizer LT 10 portable sawmill  arrived today.   I attached a few pictures below to give you an idea of how it ships.  Everything was secured and packaged extremely well. Fortunately I had a loading dock and a forklift at my warehouse to get this thing unloaded.
